Let’s Get Cooking with Usha

Shepherd’s Pie/Cottage Pie (made from ingredients available in India):

1/2 kilo mince beef or lamb,

1 finely chopped onion,

2 finely chopped cloves of garlic,

Diced carrots, beans & peas (optional),

1 Tbsp cornflour,

Herbs & condiments to taste

Heat olive oil in a pan and brown the onions & garlic. Add the meat, vegetables, bay leaf, tomato puree, stock cube, cornflour and condiments. Bring to boil and simmer on low flame till cooked. Adjust seasoning.


Pour into a pie dish when cooled and top with creamy mashed potatoes. Put in a hot oven till bubbling and brown. Bon Appetit
